Sofia Buchuck-

Historian and Ethnomusicologist, Sofía is also a singer and a poet with various albums and books published.

Originally from Peru, she had been based in London since 1991. Sofía has an MA in Hispanics and Latin American Cultural Studies from UCL and an MA in Life History Research from the London MET University as well as studying Ethnomusicology at the National School of Music in Mexico (UNAM). She also lead the first oral

history project and research about Latin American refugees in London as part of the "Belonging" exhibition at the Museum of London 2006.

Sofía has completed different projects such as the "Jóvenes Sin Fronteras" documentary and "History of Carnaval del Pueblo” which was exhibited at the Cummins Museum and established a historical line of the Latin American Diaspora in London from the 1960s to date.

As a singer and ethnomusicologist, she has completed many collective projects such as: Yacurunas, Todas Las Voces, Armadillo Music and more to be found at www.sofiabuchuck.co.uk or www.porperuvianartuk.com.  "Xochipilli" compiles the history of Latin Americans in the UK, a book to be launched in 2010.

She also provides oral history workshops, interview techniques, and multimedia editing; she has also delivered workshops at the Carnaval del Pueblo Exhibition (2009)
